Bulx

Bulx wants everyone to love their home and offers sales that make good design available to everyone who appreciates it. Bulx is the first private sale website for high-end home improvement goods. By using a members-only model, they feature the top brands in home improvement to discreetly move overstock merchandise. Since Bulx buys at overstock prices, they are able to charge lower prices than anyone else in home improvement. The catch is that this overstock merchandise won’t last forever, and once it’s been sold, it’s unlikely to come back again, so sales are for a very limited time. Customers who act quickly can save up to 70% off retail.

Here are two great buys I found at Bulx today . . . I love this cookbook easel in the Tuscan sale. At only $29, it would make a great gift! And if you need a bathroom remodel or have done one recently, you know how expensive the really chic bathroom fixtures can be. Here’s a great buy on this faucet in the bathroom remodel sale!

More to come . . .

Get Your Groupon

The more I get to know about collective buying, the more I like it. You can get some amazing deals for up to 50% off (sometimes more) for goods and services that are worth raving about.

One of the leaders in collective buying is Groupon. Groupon is a deal-of-the-day website that is available in major markets in the United States and Canada. Launched in November 2008, Groupon now serves more than 40 markets.

Here’s how it works: The company offers one “Groupon” per day in each of the markets it serves. The Groupon works as an assurance contract of sorts:  if a specific number of people sign up for the offer, then the deal becomes available to all. If a predetermined minimum (determined by the retailer) is not met, no one gets the deal that day. It’s a win-win for the retailer in that their risk is reduced by assuring they get a minimum number of customers for the highly reduced price and promote sales and for the customer who gets to experience all sorts of things (i.e., flying lessons, white water rafting, concerts, salon treatments, etc.) or try out products, restaurants, cleaning services, etc. at deeply discounted prices.

Here’s an example of a daily deal that I really like because it promotes an organization–The Atlanta Symphony–that is supported through ticket sales and donations. The intent of this “Groupon” is that it will boost ticket sales and cultivate more patrons of the symphony. In this deal, you get dress circle seats for only $29. Normally, the price of these tickets is around $74.

You are never left holding the bag for anything and it’s free to join Groupon. The video below explains exactly how the deals work and what you can expect.

Don’t live in one of the major metropolitan markets? No problem! Groupon has several online offers every day, and I have already taken advantage of many of them. Here are a few of the online Groupon deals I found today, Monday, September 20, 2010:

Live Like Royalty

One Kings Lane is the first sample sale I ever shopped, and I’ve been hooked ever since. One Kings Lane believes that living (and giving) well is more than just a fantasy. Thus, you’ll find the world’s best designer décor and home essentials, entertaining and travel needs, fantastic gift selections and more at up to 70% off retail.

I enjoy decorating my home, and I agree with the folks at One Kings Lane there there is nothing glamorous or elegant about overspending on home décor. I have a few (as in two or three) expensive pieces in my home, but mostly, my home is a mix of finds and bargains that I discovered when I traveled frequently. And then, I found One Kings Lane and realized I could find designer décor from the comfort of my own home.

I love it when I find some of my favorite designers in the daily sales featured at One Kings Lane. Today, I am excited to share some of my favorites with you!

CE Corey

As a child, Cynthia Corey grew up mesmerized by her grandparents’ extensive china collections. At 27, in the basement of their home, she created her first tableware collection. Now crafted in Portugal by artisans she hand-picks for each specific design, her line has grown, but always bears her signature upbeat flair.

Lively and spirited additions to any tabletop, CE Corey’s ceramic and porcelain pieces always make an art of mealtime. I’m particularly intrigued by the variety in today’s sale. There truly is something for every taste.

Karen Lee Ballard

Whether your autumnal mealtimes are formal or casual, whether you’re eating with friends or family, they are valuable gatherings.

Karen Lee Ballard enhances all of them with a ravishing harvest of beautifully made, coordinated linens that are durable, richly detailed and destined to last season after season. They’re also versatile: The tasteful, vibrant patterns can be mixed, matched and layered to your heart’s content. The sale includes tables cloths, runners, place mats and napkins to help you set a delectable table!

BIA Cordon Bleu

Good taste should apply not just to a delicious, beautifully prepared meal, but to the vessel in which it’s been prepared.

B.I.A. Cordon Bleu is a leading manufacturer of porcelain and stoneware serving dishes, bakeware and dinnerware. With a ripe array of classic and contemporary shapes, as well as unique glazes in bright, robust colors, these dishes perform in the kitchen and in the oven, then make a grand and lovely entrance on the table. And the pricing on these pieces is wonderful! Where can you buy two baking dishes for $19?

Three Designing Women

Three Designing Women creates exquisitely detailed stamps just for you. With options fine-tuned for gift-givers as well as for general use, they’re ideal for personalizing correspondence, bookplates, recipes, gift-wrapping and anywhere else you want to leave your mark. These self-inking stamps can be customized in any way, including your address, name, monogram, a birth announcement, even your favorite quotation, and come with a charming selection of tags, labels and/or pads to personalize. I have one of these stamps, and I love it so much. The stamp alone usually retails for $48, so this gift sets are a great buy!

And when you’re checking out the sales on One Kings Lane, be sure to check out the OKL Must Haves Section. I love this great Abbiamo Tutto Lemon Pitcher for only $19!

If you join One Kings Lane today, you’ll get an instant $15 credit toward your first purchase. I hope you’ll make One Kings Lane one of YOUR favorite sample sales!

Rosanna Tableware at Modnique

I rarely post about a single sale but I love almost everything in Modnique’s Rosanna Tabletop Sale.

Rosanna has been recognized as a leader in tabletop design across the globe. The company’s outstanding designs were awarded the prestigious gift of the year award by the British gift ware association. Celebrated in top fashion and home design magazines and sold by some of the world’s most exceptional boutiques and stores, Rosanna products find expression in artfully designed gift boxes. The collections include home accessories, tableware, and 100% Recycled glassware.

Check out this refined porcelain set of dinner plates. They come in green (pictured), black, and white. And four dinner plates, gift boxed, are only $27. This green matches my kitchen colors and my collection of dinnerware is looking pretty bad. I love help in the kitchen, but husbands should not load the dishwasher. I plan to snap up two sets of these and ditch the plates that are chipped and nicked. At this price, I can afford to refurbish.

I’ve always been a fan of Rosanna’s collection of red and white pieces. They’re great for every day use, but they’re perfect for Christmas. These Red Velvet Mugs are $22 for a set of 4. The sale also features a set of 4 appetizer plates in this pattern for only $16. Wouldn’t these pieces make for a festive holiday get-together.

And who doesn’t love polka-dots? These Red Dot Dessert plates are $22 for the set of 4. Mugs are also available in this pattern.

And don’t forget to check out the gift boxes that accompany these sets. . . What a great gift and you don’t even have to wrap it!

ideeli Sponsors Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

As an official sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, ideeli is sharing their NYC experiences. You’ll want to check out their editorials as they blog about “My First Fashion Week” telling of an inaugural trip through all things NYC fashion.

Since we can’t be in NYC to share the experience, we can at least shop the ideeli sales.

As an official sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, ideeli is celebrating with a parade of sales from some of your favorite runway designers. As they check out BCBGMAXAZRIA’s highly anticipated spring collection at Lincoln Center, you can score some of the label’s most fabulous recent creations right here. The shoes, the bags, the dresses. I’d love to be at that sale in person, but since I can’t, I’ll try to act as an official spokesperson to give just a sample of the many fashions featured in the BCBGMAXAZRIA shows.

One of my faves from the BCBGMAXAZRIA shoe sale is this Black Larah Sandal. I’m as impressed with the price as I am with the styling of the shoe. It’s only $55!

BCBGeneration captures the feminine, retro-inspired spirit of fashion guru Max Azria’s signature BCBG line and translates it in a slightly more playful way: dresses with puffy shoulders, bustier tops, or fringy miniskirts. The little sister offshoot delivers patterns, embellishments, and impeccable cuts for the girl ready to step out on her own. Lots of dresses and a few separates in this sale, but this stunning color block dress caught my eye. It’s only $62, and most items in this sale are incredibly affordable. Prices start at only $19!

BCBGeneration Hobos, satchels, and messenger bags . . . you’ll love them all and ideeli makes them as attainable as they are lust-worthy. BCBG stands for “bon chic, bon genre,” a Parisian phrase that means: “good style, good attitude.” When you’re carrying a BCBGeneration bag, you can’t help but have both. Prices in this sale start at $29. The Black Skylar Tote pictured is $59.

Despite the fact that I don’t have that many occasions to dress up, I still love browsing the sales that include the perfect dress for the perfect occasion. ideeli has assembled a whole slew of them in their “All Dressed Up” sale. This Badgley Mischka Paisley dress is perfect for that first dinner date ($199) and I love Xeniva’s Lavender Bow Print Dress ($129) for a wedding party or holiday celebration. Prices for this event start at $89.

Of course, the great dress is nothing unless you have the right accessories. I’m crazy about the variety in
ideeli’s “Top It Off Sale.” The jeweled details of a platform, the sparkle of an oversized cocktail ring (like this one from Adia Kipur at $14), or the sleek sophistication of a clutch can instantly add flair to any ensemble. Choose from Poetic License and Steve Madden heels(these Steve Madden lovelies are just $39), Lydell NYC and Noir jewelry, and Carlos Falchi clutches, among others. The beauty of a good accessory is that it’s the gift that keeps on giving, season after season. Remember, nothing’s done ‘til you add the trimmings. Prices in this sale start at $12.

Tattoo anyone? Going under the needle is permanent. But Sledge’s graphic-print tops, with designs that resemble the intricate linework of the best tattoo artists can be changed as often as you change your mind. From pretty florals to groovy peace signs and everything in between, Sledge’s flowing peasant blouses, comfy tees, and wear-anywhere sweats give any outfit a jolt of attitude. A favorite of fitness expert Jillian Michaels and country star Carrie Underwood. I hate tattoos, but I love this olive and black animal print tee! $29.

Ah, to be in NYC for Fashion Week . . . plug in a Sex & The City video, shop the sales and imagine yourself there!

Knork! Knork! Who’s There?

I am just crazy about the collective buying concept. More and more companies are getting into collective buying, and I recently up for a new one–Eversave. Here’s how it works:

  • Become a member of Eversave by subscribing to their daily emails. You’ll receive unbelievable local and online deals every day. Email is the best way to make sure you don’t miss out on a great Save.
  • When you see a Save you like, click on the “Buy Now” button from the home page and complete the purchase information. Your Save voucher is immediately ready for viewing and printing. Remember, you can give Saves as gifts (Vouchers don’t say how much you paid for it, only what they are worth.)
  • After buying the Save, print your save voucher. For local merchants, take the voucher with you to redeem. For online Saves, go to the merchant’s website and make your purchase. At checkout, make sure to enter your 13 digit coupon code in the appropriate space to receive your discount.

I’ve already used several saves—I got 3 lb. of nuts for $6 from NuttyGuys.com and I got $40 worth of merchandise for $20 from Abes Market. I’ve used these already (I bought more than one voucher) and they’ve already been shipped to me. No problems, no glitches, just great savings.

Today’s Eversave is super for anybody who needs to buy a wedding gift or restock their supply of flatware. Buy a $50 voucher for Knork for only $25! And if this is your first purchase with Eversave, you get an automatic $5 credit for joining, so that means you get $50 worth of product for only $20! And here’s an added bonus—Today’s save includes FREE SHIPPING!

Rachael Ray calls the Knork “one of my favorite things!” The rounded tines and finger platform on the Knork create an edge that allows the user to use a rocking motion to cut through foods. Have you ever gone to eat something with a fork and realized that the pieces were too large to eat in just one bite? Rather than try to fit a huge mouthful of food in your mouth, the Knork allows you to cut your food easily without having to search for a knife.

Enhance your everyday dining experience with the Knork 5-piece or 20-piece flatware setting which includes a Salad Knork, Place Knork, Place Knife, Place Spoon, and a Teaspoon. Available in matte, glossy, and duo finish, the Knork set will match any style, whether you prefer classic or contemporary. Looking for even more sharpness? Knork sells Heavy Duty Steakhouse Steak Knives ($33 for a set of four) which will provide extra cutting power with a finely serrated edge.

Beyond the Rack Is Beyond Belief!

If you check out only one sample sale today, let it be Beyond the Rack!

Inexpensive jewelry abounds from Three’s Company and Hype. Most items are at least 50% off!

Check out this Divine Stone Necklace from Three’s Company. It’s made of Turquoise and Mother of Pearl. Only $15!

And I adore this silver bracelet! It’s only $10! In fact, every piece in this sale is a bargain!

The Hype Sale has lots of bling. This eye-catching cluster of rhinestones sits at the collarbone. It has a black chain and it’s priced so that anyone can afford it. . .at $29, it’s a real bargain!

Now that you have the jewelry, maybe you’ll want to have a cocktail party. You’ll find tremendous savings on glassware from Mud Pie. They have monogrammed glasses of all sorts–double old fashioned, high ball, wine glasses and more. They’re priced at $14 to $21 for a set of 4. My son and I both like old decanters, and I have given him a couple. I heard his wife say yesterday that it was something else to dust, and she’s right. But she’s going to get one more item to dust because I bought this monogrammed decanter for him today for only $12.

Now, if you’re not into collecting decanters or decanting alcohol, this decanter is still a great find. I have one similar to this in my bathroom and I use it for mouthwash. I don’t have that ugly mouthwash bottle on display, and depending on the brand of mouthwash you use, it really makes a nice addition to your vanity top.

You can also use these decanters for lotions and soaps. Just replace the stopper (this one is inexpensive enough to do that) with a stopper that allows you to press for just a small portion of product. Instead of a big plastic bottle of dish soap, you have a pretty container next to your kitchen sink.

Please check out the other sample sales today. This was my first stop and the buys were really great, so I wanted to take a quick minute to share! Happy Shopping!
